Community, collaboration, education
Alongside creative expression; community, collaboration and education have always been the heart of what I do. Following a graphic design & illustration degree, I trained and worked in community arts project management with a pioneering organisation, leading workshops in a range of mediums with people of all ages and backgrounds.
It was a deeply connective practice that reinforced my community values and fuelled my creative practice. Some projects resulted in permanent features within the built environment, exhibitions, photography and film; others were simply for the moment.
I also spent several years supporting learners within a secondary school special educational needs department - a joyful, challenging and enriching experience. This led to creative opportunities such as leading workshops, training staff and students in design software and wall display, and delivering a range of projects including a magazine and student press team, an illuminated shadow puppet experience, 3d art installations, and diverse design work such as educational resources, interactive displays, and a library signage project.
I enjoy the focus and freedom of solitary studio work, but am equally drawn to the transformative potential of creative collaboration - for individuals and communities alike.
I often find myself working with clients and organisations centred on community - building connections and creating meaningful change in the world. This is what fuels my practice.
